Wikid is an interim peer model which uses an associated local MediaWiki as its persistent storage structure and user interface. All the peers have a persona which they use to login to wikis or SSH in to servers.

Peerd relies heavily on the nodal content for its own operation (in the same way that wikid relies on its snipits). But we have no interface or persistent storage structure to work with. So the plan is to use the combination of wikid and its associated wiki to build and maintain the nodal data structure required to initialise and support a peerd instance.

This will be achieved by giving wikid a persistent-nodal-hash snipit which is modified to use the peers article namespace as its persistent storage resource. A running instance of wikid will then be maintaining a persistent nodal structure which can then become dynamic by scheduling a certain number of calls to the structures nodal reduction method each second.

wikid (wiki-daemon) is the first version of the peerd software which was built in PERL. The files making up wikid are in Category:Peerd/files/PERL. Even though it's not strictly a peerd, it has been constructed from the PERL code which was originally intended for the PERL implementation of peerd.
